Perhaps there's something to make Windows show the previews for DNG files, that is more stable than your current setup?
A RAW file viewer or something like that, I can't recall the details.
I think that I had to install some extra component to get previews of several types of RAW files. It sounds to me like Win Explorer is trying to show previews for the DNG files and has some sort of memory-leak in its DNG preview viewer / generator that is triggered by these specific DNG files. In what view mode is Windows Explorer trying to show the folder contents? Is it trying to show previews for each file or just trying to show the folder contents as a list? It doesn't crash when the folder still contains only RAF (and JPEG) files? OK so just to make sure I get this right: Windows 10 Explorer only crashes after you convert RAF to DNG format, right? Have you tried opening one of the DNG files from Bridge or Photoshop? Has anybody else had this problem and what did they do to solve it ?. I took this drive to a Chromebook with the Android operating system and I find that I can open the folder and the files. Thankfully the folder in question is on an external drive. However in this case, as soon as I go to open the folder that contains the converted RAW files (RAF to DNG), Windows 10 File Explorer crashes within 5 seconds and I can not get to any of the files there-in. I have done this before, with great success, with other makes of camera. My version of Photoshop is too old to handle the *.RAF files from this camera (and, no, I can't update its RAW convertor as Adobe has stopped supporting it), so I downloaded the latest version of Adobe DNG Convertor (12.2) and converted my RAF files to DNG. I just had to see what all the fuss was about and also wanted a small rangefinder style camera so, I bought a Fuji X-E3.
